IF YOU COMPLETED YOUR ASSIGNMENT ON THE RQI PLATFORM YOU WILL NOT NEED A CERTIFICATE, HOWEVER, YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD 

 

This option is for those whom have already completed the online assignment and need a skills test off. 

 

If you completed the assignment via RQI - you will not need a certificate printed.

**OPEN TO THOSE WHO DO NOT REQUIRE IT IN THEIR JOB DESCRIPTION **

 

The BLS course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. Hackensack University Medical Center is authorized as a Training Center for the Basic Life Support Program by the American Heart Association.

Educational Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of early CPR
  • Recall the basic steps of 1 and 2 rescuer CPR for adults, children and infants
  • Explain the importance of early defibrillation
  • Recall the basic steps for use of an AED
  • Recall the basic steps to relieve choking for responsive and unresponsive victims over 1 year of age and for infants
  • Explain the importance of each link in the adult and pediatric Chain of Survival

This course is designed for those seeking AHA BLS Instructor Renewals. Requirements for Instructor renewal include attending and completing the renewal course, successfully passing the BLS skills portion ofr adult and infant, and passing the written exam with a score of 84% or higher.

Instructors seeking renewal must have taught a total of 4 courses over the period of 2 years. 

 

The fee for the course is $100 for NON HUMC employees. 

Current HUMC employees are not charged for the renewal course.

NON HUMC employees please bring a check for $100 made out to Hackensack University Medical Center

If your BLS / ACLS / PALS is expired, you may not sit for a renewal course-you must complete a Heartcode assignment.
